The Society Comments on your paper on FULL EMPLOYMENT IN IRAK

========================================

Dear Major General Chiarelli:

The Gentlemen of the Rockaway Park Philosophical Society bid you greetings. The Society boasts that it is the only such organization sponsoring its own school of national philosophy. To the eternal annoyance of those of our Society who served in the Second Armored Division, some of our members are known to whistle "Gary Owens" during respites from most scholarly endeavors.

One of our number pointed out a paper you had written on the cure for the maladies in Irak. You propose full employment and reconstruction as the antidote to continued Arab resistance to the US invasion and the US installed Iraki (Quisling) government. Despite the many times Our Leader has appeared in his little naval costume to declare victory, the Arabs pay no heed. At the same time, there seems to be no rush inside the US to the recruiting offices to volunteer for replacing those lost facing bomb-laden donkeys.

We think you confuse Arabs with the US social-rebel criminal of the 1960s. While both defied "authority" in a sense, there are significant differences. Arabs are warriors; the US criminal element in the 1960s used liberal ideology to mask criminal activities. The Arabs strike at US forces and the police of the US installed regime; the social rebel criminal looted department stores and never attacked a police station or military installation.

Full employment in a reconstructed Irak would no doubt produce a well-paid, decently housed enemy combatant.

It would be hard to explain to any US national of this jaded age that the Arabs who fight for their God and their country will not yield to US forces whose sole commitment is to augment the oil fortunes of the Bush family.

Arabs are tough warriors. If you want to fight them, we tell the rah-rahs, the fat, dumb, and happy US civilians who won’t enlist but who can be counted on to wave flags and lip-synch the solemn songs which belong to men, well, you have to teach your sons bayonette drill and your daughters rolling bandages. And while you're at it , you'd better get yourself a leader, not a shrinking violetta who lacks a certain degree of bladder control in emergencies, though it is the consensus of this Society that Our Leader does look cute in his little Air Force costume.

On that note, the Society, all veterans mind you, reminding you to keep counting those hearts and minds as it bids you,

A Most Cheery Cheerio,

cheery thoughts
